Country Valentine's Day Playlist
If you asked me at 10 years old what I wanted to be when I grow up, I would have said a singer. The first time I sang was in middle school at a talent show. There were hundreds of parents in the audience and when it was my turn, the background music I was singing to came on. No one could hear it and so I spoke into the mic to ask if they could turn it up. Everyone laughed. They accidentally turned it up so loud that everyone jumped and covered their ears. Despite the technical difficulties, I pulled the performance off with a standing innovation. Since then I was hooked. In high school, I sang Taylor Swift every year (big fan) and took singing lessons. Senior year I even auditioned for American Idol. Unfortunately I got sick the week of the audition and didn’t make the cut. But it didn’t stop me from applying to Belmont University for commercial singing. I visited Belmont in the winter of 2013 to see if I wanted to study music in Nashville. I loved the city but I didn’t get the major I wanted and something felt off. It came down to two choices, I could move to Nashville to sing or study Agriculture at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. I picked Cal Poly because I was so excited when I found out that I got accepted that I screamed in my math class hallway. It was then I realized I wanted to study agriculture more than music.
Nothing ever changed the way I felt about singing. I still sang in college worship teams, performed in Los Angeles and recorded with friends. Country music has always been my favorite music and so here are some of my favorite love songs right on time for Valentines Day. Enjoy here!
